Understanding Generative AI
Generative AI refers to a class of artificial intelligence models capable of creating new, original content based on learned patterns from existing data. In contrast to traditional AI, which is often used for classification or detection tasks, generative AI produces outputs that can mimic or simulate real-world examples. These outputs might include synthetic text, images, code, or data patterns.
Within cybersecurity, generative AI is used to simulate threats, generate synthetic datasets, automate response documentation, and emulate attacker behavior. Its purpose isn’t just to detect threats but to proactively predict and model them.
